Advance dive and a little more

Before I go into a picture galore of my advance diving trip. I shall try to educate my dive buddy. In response to Ping's long entry....there is no fish, its a nudibranch! See the red circle in the first picture! And those corals are called tabletop corals.
So I decided to take my advance diving certification along with some leisure dives. That should give me enough diving to last me till end of the year. Diving is darn expensive, but worth a try. This time I took the bus/ferry route. Oh my, 4 hours in a van and 4 hours on a ferry to the island is no joke. It really tested my conviction to continue diving. We even had to give a welcome 'gift' to the Malaysia Policemen who stopped us for no apparent reason. Perhaps there is a rule that a 8 seater van can only have 6 people?

We stepped onto island at 5am, dragged ourselves to the room to get some proper rest. The only good part of it all, the rooms are much better than the Live onboard.

Welcome Pulau Dayang, hello sunshine and sea! We had some time to play beach volleyball. I think it was JC since I last played this game? We could have won the game, but I had a "STAR PLAYER" in my team, who also happens to be my dive buddy.

Here are some pictures of the world underwater. Did not take the pictures, stole them from lyn - First time underwater photographer.

This shell thingy was moving slowly while we were doing our night dive.

See the black fishes....they were TINY!!! Some where even about half a centimeter.
I think that is a goat fish. It sure looks like it has a goatee
This is a nudibranch I see pretty often that it is no longer a novelty. There thosands of different spieces and more are being discovered. Fact:They are carnivorous! Fact:They are often molested by ping.
Lobster....
Clown fish aka Nemo. They are everywhere, but you don't often get two looking straight into the camera. Say CHEESE!!!Here is the best shot taken by a new Underwater photographer. It was during the night dive and clever use of the torch to hightlight the starfish.

Below are underwater photos I took from alvin. He is a serious underwater photographer. He has a big stobe with a very good digital camera. Coupled with lots of diving experience, you can see the difference in picture quality.

Yellow-tailed barracudas. I saw a big school of it went I was doing my safety stop at Rayner's Rock. Pretty surreal!
Flabellina looks a little like dragon. I saw a couple of these during my dives. Lovely!
White-eyed Moray eel. I even got a chanve to take pictures of it, but my instructor has not sent me what I took. The eel I saw was up a huge coral formation. So I had to float in the middle of nowhere to get the pictures. Why was I so stable? Cause Ping was so excited she literally grab me and force me to take pictures of it. Scorpion fish...saw a few of these too. Very well hidden critter!

Nudibranch, the exact same kind that ping tormented during our basic open water course!
This has got to be my favourite finds during this trip. Saw the juvenile yellowbox fish twice durin g the trip. It is abt 2cm only. Scuttering around here and there. It is very hard to get a clear look at it! Everytime I see this photo, I feel like squishing it! haha!
Hermit crab also known at junction 8 as HAHA crabs. They are actually selling hermit crabs for $40. I think I should catch some back and start my own! And the hermit crabs I see in the water a HUGE compared to those at j8!
Barred moray eel. I saw this fellow too. Well hidden under a flat rock with only a small opening. Just so happen I decided to peek into that hole and VIOLA! But it was pretty shy, did not shoot out like the picture below!
Here is the whole group, bunch of leisure divers, open water students, 4 advance students, Dive master trainee and instructors. Very fun group, filled with snacks, drinks, vollyball, chats and jokes.

The guy in white is my instructor. 4 of us took the advance open water course. The jap girl is sleeping I guess. She has this ability to sleep anywhere. She will just plonk herself somewhere and knockout, even better than me! I must say that Jap girl is very interesting. She had already bagpacked central USA, Australia and decided to stay in Singapore after a short trip over here.

Ypu must be wondering if Ping poked, molested anymore critters this time round. The below picture says it all.

Ping is a little more careful now since she got bitten the last time round which led to 50 antibiotics and a jab. Without a pointer and gloves, she resorted to using her Fins to "lightly" touch the creatures (lightly is what she use to justify her actions). During night dives, she will use her torchlight as the pointer. Jabbing anything that interests her. She was so excited when she saw a turtle, she practically almost hung onto its shell! *smacks forehead*

All in all, it was a lovely trip other than getting drifted away from my instructor who was tending to the jap girl. I still don't agree with my instructor's way of handling the situation. But that is another story for another time. (Dammn tired already)

Here is a poem I saw on the forum. Condolences to the family of the guy who passed away while diving a Sipada

Carson Ray (1989)

If I should die beneath the sea

Whatever the circumstance may be

I only ask that you not cry

For such a lucky one was I.

But rather weep for those alive

Who know not what it is to dive

Into the planet's liquid heart

And of God's ocean be a part.

For even Christ must envy all

Who dive along the ocean's wall

Though the wind and sea His will obeys

He only walked along the waves.

And may I ask for one thing more?

A simple cross beside the shore

Below my name inscribe for me

Lost to the earth but found at sea.

Tenderheart Bear
You are thinker, organizer, peacekeeper, and leader all in one. You have a power to command attention and people listen to you. However, you are often so concerned about not hurting others' feelings that you don't tell them what they need to hear and this gets you both into trouble. But you always have loyal friends to help you out.

Pictures

Sneaky cameraman caught me doing a pole dance! haha! I think I was just dazing in a weird position.

Check out the food that I was raving about. There was more food on the other table and a pot full of curry! Yummy!!! The food was good for every meal, so good that Ping had to gorge 3 prata and curry chicken for breakfast.

Try to read what was written on the right side of the whiteboard...Hell has no fury like a man without his beer!

I look a little dumb when I am with the mask. But Aquaman needs his equipments just like how batman needs his!
Don't really want to open my eyes in the sea. I am pretty anal when it comes to my eyes.

Here is the group with the instructor (in blue, sitting with his legs really wide apart).

I am taking some time to upload the pictures cause it is a pain to wait for it to upload.

bad week

Lunch time.
No lunch for me.
Not in the mood.
Sneaking in some time to vent.

I am having a bad week...

Nitrogen filled body wrecked Monday
Stucked at work killed Tuesday
Problems mess Wednesdays

FUCK

I can't sleep

My name is Ansley Yeo and I am a nitrogen addict....

I want to go dive at
perhentian
redang
aur
similan
manado
wreck dives
and many more.....

I can't stop thinking about it....I am even thinking that tennis is not very fun. Gaming is nothing to me now. I just want to be thrown back to the sea.

Anyone interested in doing Advance Diving soon with me? (Just so I can dive deeper legally)

Long last...

I finally went for my open sea dive. I am a certified aquaman! Now I know why Aqua ASS is so addicted to it. I want to go back to the sea, give me gills so I can stay in the water.

I started my diving experience by being pampared with a Live onboard. Sat on MV Seabourne all the way to Dayang. Lovely experience, no hassle of changing bus and ferry. The food was VERY VERY good. The capt and cook is this guy by the name of Ah Koon (or Ah Goon). He can really whip up really good dishes. Thou he seem to occassionally under cook the chicken. Food, snacks and entertainment was plentiful. (To think I thought diving can help me lose weight, in the end... I gained some weight)

I did not need to dive to see fishes, the water was so clear....I can see the fishes swimming ard when I was on board. Saw a turtle too before I even went down for my first dive. How clear is the water? I spotted a blue spotted sting ray clearly (abt 10m) when I was playing with the snorkle on the water surface.

When you first descend, the feeling of awe just overwhelms you. I feel a certain sense of peace and then suddenly no marine life seems scary. I guess AquaPing took that feeling a little too seriously. She must be lying when she said she is scared of fishes, cause when she was a TERROR. She kept touching everything in her sight. The pool little nudibranch was molested by her REPEATEDLY. The worst is she does not have gloves. She fiddled with the sea cucumber, kept playing with the coral ferns. Basically thought she was invincible. I swear she would have touched the stonefish we saw if it was closer to her. The best part of it all, I showed her the picture of the Crown of Thorns (at Jawa), the joker almost went to touch it before the divemaster smacked her hands away. *roll eyes* Ichthyophobia my foot!!! Don't say I never warn you, Fire corals do pack a mean punch!

I had a opportunity to do a night dive at Sebukong, which was an eye opener. The world down there has a totally different feel when it is night. Somehow the sea urchins are out in full force at that time. Reef crab, pufferfish, sea slug, big nudibranch, sleeping fishes...and plenty more which I can only describe as fishes, big fish, ehh...coloured fish?

I missed out a lot of things too, the leisure divers got attacked by triggers, saw the coneshell, crabs and even shrimps. My instructor saw the shape of a nurse shark when we were at pulau yu (Yu in malay means shark). I want to do a leisure dive, just so I can take my time to check out the little things I missed.

Jet rock and Pulau Yu was the leisure dive we did before we left for Spore. The currents were pretty strong and the visibility was probably abt 4-5m. A totally different experience with such conditons. Really had to play with the bouyancy just to get real close to the reefs without stiring anymore sediments. Just my luck as the divemaster told me that the 2 sites actually have really good visibility if the conditions were right. If you are at Jet Rock, do not touch anything which looks foreign, they use that place for live firing! hahaha!

The journey back was filled with naps, movies, beer, wine and chips. That is life....

I have a nitrogen hangover!!! I need more!!!

(I will upload the pictures when I feel less lazy)

Did you know?

Over a dinner conversation I found out that you can SMS your home phone and receive the SMS as electronic voice mail.

Go try it. Use variations of hahahaha, ha ha ha and etc. See what the computer will generate!

You can see I have very boliao friends.

Prof ASS (Aqua shorty stud) gave me an additional beware.

Cone shells looks pretty, but can be deadly.

Don't need to see how the shark looks like, I know - thanks to hollywood!

Auqaman's side kick aka Aquaping is Ichthyophobia (Fear of Fish).

Balls to tennis...

Aquaman: Fears

Every superhero has their innermost fears. Something which they hide even deeper than their secret identity. And aquaman's fear is....Dying in the sea (why the hell did I choose to be aquaman). I just feel so unready, don't know why this uneasiness. This went a notch up after a chat with aqua'shorty' (from now on, known as ASS).

ASS: If you see sharks, must tell me. Take photos.
me: Siao...see sharks I will swim away real fast. Probably leave my dive bud as the bait (kidding there ping)
ASS: Just be careful of trigger fish. Got one bit my dive friend before. They are notorious for being aggressive.
me: *jaws drop* (I did a search and you judge for yourself)
ASS: Careful of Crown of thorns starfish....60 secs and bye bye
me: I thought starfish is like spongebob's friend...so friendly (click here)
ASS: I went for a dive, people tell me the site very good....but when I was there, there was stonefish everywhere. I had the worst dive in my life
me: ......

(the above conversation is not quoted word for word)

My instructor said he met a White tip before and he took photos of it. Being a newbie aquaman, I thought he meant some fish....yeah, "some" fish he meant. (Click here)

Plus all the other things you need to remember to do if not some form of injury may happen to you. I mean, getting injured on land is one thing, getting injured underwater, 15m deep is another.

You can only feel my apprehension when you do the course. You will feel inadequtely trained. BUT....I am as excited as hell!

Aquaman: The Beginning

Every superhero needs to start somewhere (My main alterego is still this), even aquaman. I took my baby steps to have 'gills' built in me. Here are some of the significant points in the prologue

I choked the first time I wore the mask. The rubber blocked the passage of my nose, I forgot aquaman breaths only thru his mouth. I choked the time I forgot to clear the water first when I took off the regulator. Can you imagine this in the headlines..."Aquaman dies after choking on mouthful of water"

I have clumsy flipper feet. Kept kicking myself when I swim. I can't walk properly in the swimming pool in them, but then again they are not for walking. Damn those duck feet! And I come to love them after I tried moving in the water without them. I have never realise how painful it was to be a snail.

I stared blankly at the final exam paper, especially when they ask me to use some weird charts to calculate the amount of nitrogen left in my body. What the hell, just give me the 100% oxygen. I want to be high. (maybe I should try faking Decompression sickness when I come up from the dive)

I realise I can never understand what the instructor is trying to handsign to me, but I always seem to understand what he is trying to handsign to some other fellow sea-men. Eg, instructor pointed to low pressure inflator after pointing for a 5 point ascent. I just pumped in the air and floated up, WHEEEeeee. (For your info, you can die if you do that) Actually the instructor wanted to tell us not to use the inflator.

I pee-ed in my wetsuit, keeps me warm! HAHA

I still feel I am not prepared for the sea. Aquaman can't even crawl properly, he is going to walk next week

Of toilet seats

Why do is it that the toilet seat cover must be placed down? Who says it it should be? Why can't it be left up and when you need it, then you place it down. I have a good reason why people should follow my way of toilet etiquette. Follow me on this...

Let me debunk this mystery for all - Guys can't aim properly into the toilet seat during the first few seconds when they pee. That fact is true probably abt 50% of the time. Why? Imagine u take a hose and just turn the tap on. The water just spurts out. The mechanism is not as accurate as the hands, you can't fine tune it so much so that you always have a nice trajactory. There are some other finer details why the exit stream do not always follow the nice path into the toilet bowl, but that is for you to find out.

Secondly, when u pee into the toilet bowl, it is inadvertable that some water get splash out. Not my fault, blame it on the gravitational force.

Why do I grapple on the fact that toilet seats should be left up? This is especially so in the guy's toilet. When the seat is up, we don't have to bother....just unzip and do the deed. Splash away if u can't control your tool too well. When you need to do a biggie, just plonk the seat cover and WOAH....it is cleaner than usual.

Ok, I am just pissed at the guy's toilet over at my IA company...DISGUSTING!!!

Gills!!!

I decided that walking on land is just too simple for me. After watching 'The Entourage', I come to realise that I am destined to be AQUA MAN! Or as Dav puts it "Sea-man' (for the humourless people - note the pun).

Actually I am no water baby, I am not big into swimming. But I finally signed up to learn diving. This was after the numerous false alarm by Ping. Starting on diving is not an easy task. First, you got to decide which Dive Center you want. There are like TONS of dive centers around. Some sounded dodgy, others don't have a good reputation. So how do you decide? Go ask around for referals I guess?! A big thanks to the man with the connections, he really gave us the final push we needed to go ahead and a good price (Location not too good though).

I am currently in the midst of pool sessions. We had a theory lessons with some physics and maths. p1v1=p2v2 (LOVELY!!!) You got to learn some mind boggling stuff about pressure, density nitrogen level etc etc. It is actually not that difficult, but the lesson was held really late and I was pretty tired.

They say "Careful with .... if not your lung will explode." "You may get decompression sickness leading to a dangerous senario" .....

I am half wandering why the heck I signed on to put myself in such dangers. As my friend puts it, the first time diving, you usually don't see much. You spend more time trying to stay alive.

And the best part of it all....ping aka dive buddy said "Eh, will the fish bite? I am scared of fishes leh, if they come near me I will freak out!" *DEADPANNS* My dear life is in danger.

Breathing constantly thru your mouth is not natural. Takes a while to get used to it. The equipments are darn heavy. Enough of complaining...I will reserve my final reviews after my open sea dive.

Signing off....a worried sea-man

The onslaught continues

Everyone in their life hopes to own a car. A vehicle to drive along the expressways and hear the tires rumble. It is pretty thereputic.

I guess she really believes what I said.

Happy Birthday Anastacia. You are a proud owner of a pink car when you are only 1 year old. (mind you, it is battery powered, not flint stone's method of using the legs)

Ahhh, she also received what every baby needs - a pair of shoes that squeaks. (pink colour too)

By the way, my neice can walk now. I admit it is not the model like walk, but it is fine for now.

Finally...

I was pretty packed (plus lazy) the past week. At long last I have some time to bum (and no anime to watch), I shall update a little.

Had a great time recently at the recent computer fair. Suntech was the GEEKs' HEAVEN for 4 days. I was so excited that I even dreamt of it. I went in with one thing in mind and *drum roll*....
THE IPOD VIDEO (30 gig)

It is a beauty. Black and sleek. So sexy! But left my bank pretty empty. I have been meaning to get one for the longest time to store the tiny music collection I have on my harddisk. I think I should have gotten the 60gig though. And this investment rendered me hall-less for the months when I am doing my IA. All those early mornings to catch the shuttle bus is worth it afterall.

Back to IT fair, I spent about 5 hours walking the place over and over again with different friends. Not many pretty salesgirls around, but the LG cool lady pearched on top of the stairs was a looker. I almost made my friend buy the LCD so we can get a chance to take some pictures. One interesting gadget is the electronic notepad. Use a pen to write on a A5 pad held on a board, the radio wave will transmit the movement and store it as a softcopy. It uses a software to allow users to colour and make additions to the file. For $199, I think lots of teachers will love it.

Such a fair is a love and hate thing. My only advice, if you don't like the crowd and have nothing to buy...don't go. That place was maddness by afternoon. But we all know, deep down in our hearts, we love the IT FAIR!!!

My legs were giving way after the IT fair. Had dinner and went down to One Rochester to chill out with some good friends and lyn. The place rocks, really lovely place to sit down and chill.

Chinese New Year

What is Chinese New Year (CNY) to you? To me, it is a time of traditions. Timeless practices pass down from generations before me. And I am thankful of that. It is during this time, where I once again get a chance to mingle with my relatives; even those I seldom meet and talk to.

As most people will say, it all start with the reunion dinner. Since my sister's wedding, we have been having this particular dinner few days earlier than usual. This is to accomodate my sister, so she can eat with us and also eat with her in-laws. Dinner was ok, but the location of the table was not too good. We were seated right smack at the entrance. I feel that my personal space is invaded as people flow through the main door. The actual reunion day dinner consist of my mum and me, we went to a japanese restaurant for steamboat and bbq. The food was normal, nothing special and does not justify the bill. But my mum was not willing to cook for just the two of us. We went off to catch 'I am not stupid too'. My mum is a big fan of such productions, not me. Let's just say that the show is not worth $9.50.

New Year's day was just like normal, the way I like it. We visited my grandma (dad's side) before proceeding to my granny's place (mum's side). That is where I stayed for the rest of the day and even the 2nd day. Everyone I know will sooner or later arrive at my granny's place. Food as usual was abundant. Gambling in 2 main forms take place - majong and blackjack.

This year was a little bit special, my granny invited the Lion Dance troupe over to her place. It is suppose to please the Gods and bring good fortune to the house. Her place was a little small for the extravagant dance, so the 'lion' just stood at one corner and do his thing.
This year, lucks not really on my side. Sighh.....anyone wants to donate to my gambling funds? It is not for me to gamble, it is for me to pay my debts.

Finally

I finally got my lazy ass off the bed and decided to transfer some photos I had on my handphone over to my computer. Here are some random shots!!!

Check out that huge ass moutain of butter I found it at the Wisma food court. That is some scary shit. Imagine you have to eat it all up!

See the presents my family had put around the little Christmas tree. I think the count was 100+ presents. You think I am lucky eh, but some of the presents are not for the family and some are wrapped from free gifts my aunts got from their shopping spree. They just feel the need to make the space feel less empty.

I recently went to a very nice chill out place at Depsey Road. It is very near the American embassy. You got to have a car to reach that place, walk at you own risk. The place serves wine from various countries and wine yards.

Here is my favourite, it is my niece celebrating my birthday with me! Look at how cute she is! Those big round eyes and tiny nose.

The downfall

If there are people still checking this blog, u must be wondering where I have gone. Internship (IA) has sucked my life away. I am working for a MNC in Tuas area and my pay sucks. I am in a quality control department which does not relate to IT in anyway. I am there as their vendor for a new program they want. Which means I am on my own with no one to help me.

My job is software base. Building a database, doing the server scripting and front end. After that, I will need to genereate charts, summary etc for them in Excel. Basically the whole damn program is done by me...and me alone. Here is the best part of it all:

1) I cannot use MS Access cause they refuse to pay for it. Infact, I cannot spend a single cent on anything. And they don't currently own any programs I can use.

2) I cannot have the Internet access to do research. Even after requesting base on the project, they still reject me. If I had background knowledge it will not be such a huge blow, but the fact is I never learn server scripting, front end programming and visual basic before. Which means I can only build the database without research.

The supervisor ask me to check the intranet. The intranet of a company which does nothing with Computer programming.....how "smart". Supervisor also told me to check the Help files. If the help files were useful, then the internet for the programming community will not be so big. Sigh

I ended up working after office hours, do my research during the night so I got something to do in the office the following day.

3) The amount of red tape is disgusting. Just install a program in the computer requires me to ask the IT guy, calling IBM (outsource) to do it for me. I did just that, BUT the IBM guy told me the company has reached it quota for installation...."Try again next month" What the hell!!!

I thought seeing the politics and red tape in Police force was enough, this company is even worst. Maybe wanting to go out to work as soon as possible is not too good afterall. Maybe by the end of my IA, I will wither and die.

Christmas activities

Christmas is my favourite holiday. Thou Singapore's weather kills the spirit a little, I still like my Xmas. I like the idea of sitting with my hot chocolate and listening to the Christmas songs.

Xmas eve was pretty interesting. I started the day in NTU, had a softball match which went pretty well. After that I went to Michael's party, it has been many years since I last saw my primary school friend. Not much catching up, but it was good to see that dude. I went the children's mass which had a really cool nativity play. Dinner was a simple affair, but no one really wanted to go squeeze with the crowd. Lyn and I went off to catch some shows. Ernest and Pam joined us later. We had tons of snacks and playes Taboo. The guys lost, but that is because the girls had extra time (The timer was spoilt). Lots of laughter and food.

Every year I will have a family party, this year is a little different though, I started of by helping my aunt shift to her newly renovated house (At last, no more sleeping in the living room). I was pretty pissed at the idea in the first place, but i decided not to let anything spoil my xmas. We went to Melban after that for some AWESOME food. Yummy yummy! We ended off with the traditional Count-the-Number-of-Presents game and then giving them out.

I love Christmas!

Bangkok is cool...

Bangkok is cool...literally chilly. No one told me that Thailand can be cold, and I found out the hard way. I was freezing half the time at Chatuchat (JJ) with a sleeveless shirt.

And so the brave me went to Bangkok aka Shopping paradise with 3 girls...my sister, cousin and lyn. Many told me how daring I was, some say I may not make it back alive. But I came back in one piece (with bigger biceps too)

Suan Lum Night market is pretty much like the Perth's weekend Market, tiled floors and pretty clean. Most of the stuff here can be found at JJ, but you can find some really funky, artistic things from the independent artists section. Really cool stuff.

JJ has everything including pets. Like 99% of the places in Bangkok, barginning is a MUST! Slash it 3/4 or 1/2, use all the tricks u have. You can spend about 3/4 of a day here just to see everything. The layout is a little messy though, I kept walking back to the same place.

MBK is the place to go for dry food...all the crackers etc. For ladies, the bras are cheaper in toyku. Why do I know? Cause I was waiting in that section for an hour while the 3 ladies went CRAZY. I looked like an idiot walking around.

Siam Square is like our Far East, great place to shop. Nearby is Siam Paragon, just like our own Paragon. Very expensive, they have a Lamborghni showroom with a few cars. A little walk will bring you to World Trade, some people go there for Naraya bags. It does not look nice to me, just very cheap. The japanese love it, they buy them by 2-3 baskets. Check out this area next year, they are doing a major renovation over there.

Things to check out and see...
1) FUJI Japanese food, really cheap and good.
2) Durian chips, YUMMYYYYYYY
3) Assam gummies, addictive stuff!
4) 8am and 6pm....Thailand's national anthem, everyone will stand at attention. How cool is that!
5) Mango and papaya salad...good stuff, but ask them to leave out the soft shell crab!
6) Cheap coconut juice and beer
7) Baskin' Robins ice cream
8) Most toilets don't have auto flush system

One thing that irritated me was the lack of basins in the men's toilet. I mean, you can find 5-8 urinals, but there are only 2 basins. I had to queue to wash my hands (YES, I DO WASH MY HANDS).

Bangkok Rocks...the weather made it so much better. I am only going back to Bangkok in Decembers.

PS* I dont really know how to spell the names of the Places I visit. Forgive me if the spelling is wrong. Haha!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all!!!

How did they do it?

I just started watching the show '24' Season 1 recently. I really don't know how the fans can wait for the show to come on every week. The serial is so good, I think I can finish it in 2 days if I had no other distractions.

I need the last few episodes of Season 1.....ARghhh!!!! HELPPPPPPP!!!! I can't sleep!!!

Updates

Have not been updating much, it has been very hectic over here. Have lots of trainings (Tennis, Rugby, Softball, Hockey and MORE tennis) to attend, by the end of the day...I am so drained to blog.

How do you know that you are getting old? I know it when my ankle refuses to heal from a sprain after 2 weeks. I admit I have not been resting it much, but I have been taping it and even wore ankle guard. I have restricted the intensity of how I play sports...but the dammn ankle is still swollen. Last time, can sprain and still play with the same intensity and still recover in a week. Now....sighh....old liao!

Anyway, recently I spied a keg of Hineken beer at Cold Storage. It is dammn cool, 5 litres of beer in a barrel with a cool tap. We got one for a party and it ROCKS. The beer is smoother than the cans and the novelty of having the keg is a plus point. So go get yourself one.

Before I end...anyone wants to check out Ministry of Sound? I know they play really different music, but it is afterall MoS!

Death and me

Everytime the exams come, I experience the feeling of getting stab. Everytime I walk out from one paper, I feel that I am so dead.

In fact I died so many times that Xiao Ping does not even bother if I am dead.

I need...

I need this keyboard... purely for faster typing of my codes and school work. Efficiency counts when you are at the university.

"The DX1 is a 9-by-11-inch slab that comes with 25 adhesive-backed keys. Place them in whatever pattern you want, slap on a label, and set each one to trigger an event: Check your stocks, insert text, blast opponents while leaping away from enemy fire. Each key contains an integrated circuit that communicates with the tablet by magnetic induction. Need a new layout? Move the keys and reprogram."

I need this mouse... so I can move around the computer screen faster and get my school work done in half the time.

"Armed with the Razer Copperhead, hardcore gamers can no longer blame ignominious defeat on the !@#$% mouse. Among its foe-fragging features is a first-ever tracking precision of 2,000 dots per inch and a one-millisecond response rate for the fastest and most accurate moves. It's also the only mouse to dedicate 32 kilobytes of onboard memory to saving different settings for different games, so you can go from the precision-demanding first-person shooter to a more casual role-playing fantasy without messing around in a control panel. Add in seven programmable buttons, an optional adjustable weight system and an always-on laser for instantaneous response, and you've got the most butt-kickin' mouse on the market."

I need this tap... for serving my guest better drinks, hassle free and a tad faster.

"Pumping beer too quickly leads to excess foam, so bar patron turned inventor Matt Younkle designed the TurboTap to reduce the turbulence of fast-flowing beer. The tap's tapered interior limits the beer's acceleration, and an internal diverter sprays it across the bottom of the glass. The result—now available at ballparks and bars—is a perfect pour in half the time."

Merry Christmas anyone?

Superhero

I believe every guy will pretend to be a superhero once in their life. There is Superman, Batman, the X-men and many more.

I choose not to be anyone of those heros in the comic book. I always knew my alter ego, it was always hidden in me. I try so hard to keep it underwraps, I try so hard not to let it take control of me. But it seem like it is 2nd nature to me....

I cannot hide it anymore....during normal activities I am Ansley, but when I sit on my desk - I become SUPER PROCRASTINATOR!

What are my powers u ask. They are plentiful and most deadly. My powerful physic mind will drift me into another state, my fingers cannot stop moving my trusty pet - Microsoft Mouse, to create destruction to the Internet. My aura of invincibility makes me able to do everything when I am in this Superhero state, but my greatest nemesis - The books. They cause me pain and the dreaded sleepiness. They make me weak and irritated....

So what superhero are you?

1929

After some planning and much anticipation, the day finally arrived for me to visit Ember at Hotel 1929. The hotel emits wackiness with a touch of architecture brilliance. The old school furniture blended perfectly with the fun lights. Even the hard retro leather sofa felt comfortable.

But the highlight of the visit was Ember. Tried the Foie gras which was PERFECT. The mixture of sweetness from the apple and the saltiness from the liver was delightful.

Mains were Lamb and the seabass. Ooooo, the lamb was very well done. No overpowering smell to turn you off, no strong sauce to try and hide whatever imperfection it might have - which is none. The chef knows his stuff. The seabass was good. The sauce was the real deal for me. The mushroom mixed well with the fish and the subtle bacon taste was refreshing. Delectable!!!

Desserts was a blast for me. The chocolate cake was a blast. The vanilla ice cream had the oomph. Reminds me of the chocolate pudding at Tamade, but even better. The valrhona choc was oh so heavenly. The lavander ice cream with banana tart was nice. But lyn did not like it, she felt like she was eating those scent oil. Hiaks!

Overall, the experience was great. Love the food and place. It was however marred by the noisy atmosphere, it just did not fit in with the ambience the place was desgined to have. But it is not much of a pain, seemed like everyone was enjoying themselves. A big thanks to the wonderful waitress for giving us such personalise service. She had a kickass name - Wasabi.

I know it is a tad early, but Happy Birthday Lyn.

Thanks

Imagine my suprise when I say a funky shoe outside my room. Those wonderful colours and beautiful lines. It even had my name on it, how personalise can it get. I was smitten. I tried it on, but alas...the shoe was too small for my big feet. (And I could not find the right side of the pair)

A big THANK YOU to Can for the present. It is lovely....

Kill me and more

Someone please end my suffering. I hate the flu. Please kill me! Get rid of my pathetic existence.

Not the right time to get the flu bug...exams are drawing near! Sigh

============================

On another note, the new MSN PLUS! rocks. It coms with the usual renaming to deal with idiots who has a weird email address and refuse to put a name there. (How the hell will I relate eg. John to the email xelon123@hotmail.com?) The best part of the new version is that it comes with tab function! Tired of having ten MSN windows on your desktops? Now u can just create tabs of different chat session in ONE window! Microsoft really needs to learn that TABBING is good!

===========================

I have thrown away my tennis shoes *hint hint*. The 2.5 inch hole at the left toe side was just not doing my socks any good. Everytime I wear it, I need to either patch the socks or throw them or alternate the sides (eg. left sock change to right side and vice versa - which also only allows me to wear the socks only twice). Infact I am not hinting....candice girl, I want a new tennis shoe!

Collide

The dawn is breaking
A light shining through
You're barely waking
And I'm tangled up in you

I'm open, you're closed
Where I follow, you'll go
I worry I won't see your face
Light up again

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills my mind
I somehow find
You and I collide

I'm quiet you know
You make a first impression
I've found I'm scared to know I'm always on your mind

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the stars refuse to shine
Out of the back you fall in time
I somehow find
You and I collide

Don't stop here
I lost my place
I'm close behind

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills your mind
You finally find
You and I collide

You finally find
You and I collide
You finally find
You and I collide

Army shorts

I don't have much shorts to use for sports. The Nike or adidas etc have cut throat prices, thus I only own Army (SAF) shorts that I use. It works fine for most times EXCEPT long distance running.

Recently I have the 'honour' to join in the NTU Tennis Team for training. My friend said it was only tennis and I get to play with much better players. It was all true till the new coach came. They planned for the whole Sept, we run 10 laps round the track on Tues and 20 laps on Fridays. Sounds a lot, but it is 4km and 8km. That is pretty normal, but it is the thought of running the rounds that kill. Imagine....after completing 5 rounds and the coach smiles at u and say "You got 15 more to go!" How encouraging can that be!

Which brings me back to peeve...those rounds have rendered me walking like a penguine after every training. People think my 'balls' (if u know what I mean) are oversized. I walk with this unbearable pain in my inner thighs.

To think these are shorts which are made for the guys in army for trainings. They want to have a bunch of guys marching with their legs wide open. It is the SAF's plan to make men out of boys. And I suspect, it is also how to make u stop smiling - you look fierce, u scare the shit out of the enemy.

The runs no longer scare me, it is the aftermath that worries me...

That is my girl! Errmmm, I meant the one with the little ducky pinned on her tiny girlie dress! The one with the small mouth and nose.

The one who cannot resist puking on me when I do get to see her once in a blue moon!

So cute...

Update on my dearie

She is growing really fast.
She makes weird noises, I presume she is trying to tell me something.
She can turn herself when I leave her on the bed. And she can do it really fast. Maybe that is why she fell off the platform bed. (My sis...not me!!!)
She is treating me as a ladder everytime I carry her. (At the stage of learning how to crawl)
She is always trying to kneel down then I prop her up to stand. (Same reason - learning to crawl)
She is still always falling asleep when I carry her. (maybe it is the smell)

Anastacia still has a lot of hair.

pinging a connection

Was trying to help a friend, Ping, with her computer problems over the msn. She could not connect to the internet and was so frustrated she knocked over a jug of water. Seeing her plight, I even enlisted my good friend to help.

One thing abt helping people with little computer knowledge is you got to type out everything for them. Eg. Click START>CONNECT TO>Click wireless. That is not that bad...I wanted to check if she is receiving any packets.

The conversation on MSN went like this:
[06:35:34 PM] Ansley - I n: type 'ping www.singnet.com.sg'
without the ' '
[06:35:54 PM] :( pinkpalep: har
[06:35:57 PM] :( pinkpalep: type my name also?

I was laughing loudly when I saw that. So next time I want to ping a address I will type 'ansley www.singnet.com.sg' HAHAHA!

Ignorance is a bliss...

Performances

QUIDAM was very good. The acrobatics were just stunning. You just got to be there to believe how good they are. There was this guy who moved this wheel with his body and legs only. Don't really know how to explain, but it was amazing. Then there was this segment where this bunch of performers put the pro cheerleaders to shame. I call it EXTREME Cheerleading. People were flying here and there continuously. 2 guys catching and flinging the rest into the air like it was just another cartwheel. Amazing stuff....

I caught Snow Wolf Lake at the indoor stadium with my mum too. I must say the singing was awesome. You think you know Jacky Cheung's voice is good, but when I was there...I realise its very good, so powerful and so much emotion.

The shows revolved around Gal A and Garderner falling in love and have some tragic outcome. Gal A's sister - Gal B also fall for the garderner secretly(Now I know which job to go into to attract some serious pretty babes). Well, I am not here to tell u the story. Just needed to introduce the characters.

Like all musical, there are solos here and there. A particular solo by Gal B was so good. Sang with so much passion and conviction that everyone clapped really loud when she ended her song. Gal B actually left the stage saying a soft but audible "xie xie". I was shocked. The people around me were all saying "Did she say xie xie?" That was actually pretty amusing!

All in all, it was a brilliant show but I did not really appreciate the part abt the fairy godwolf. It reeks LAME! The show also started 30mins late. I think those assholes who came late should just be lock out! One last thing, for goodness sake, if you want to sing along to the songs....go to the KTV! I can hear this girl singing with the musical, that is just IRRITATING!

Laughing....alone

I went to catch Longest Yard recently. It was a 11am show, so I did not expect the cinema to be filled. And I was right, there were abt 20 people altogether. The show started and it was a hilarious flick. No brainer flim, just need to laugh at the slap stick comedy.

I laughed.....alone. So many times I was laughing either by myself or with a few other people joining in (even then, their attempt at laughing was feeble). Laughing alone at a comedy! *DEAD PANNED*

Do these people actually understand the jokes? Are they so serious that they forgot that the show was suppose to be funny. I was half wondering if the audience was too dense to catch the jokes.

Instead of laughing at the jokes, this guy behind was trying to impress some gals with his knowledge of wrestlers. He was saying the names of the wrestlers and was practically in awe by them. He must have some wrestlers' posters in his room. Maybe he also wear those colourful underwear tights and walk around the room with his arms in the air. Bloody airhead!

Be With Me

Caught the movie 'Be With Me' yesterday. And here are some points to note...

1) Be prepared for a almost no dialogue show
2) Don't buy any snacks as the show is pretty silent. Your however silent munching WILL BE HEARD
3) If you can't drink silently, then don't drink
4) You want slapstick, horror and good old sad love stories....go somewhere else

I like the show, thought it was really good. Not much talking, but the scenes conveyed the meaning. It tells little stories of people and their relationships with people in their lives, be it family or love. You just have to watch it to understand. I guess everyone will see the movie in their own light and find their own meaning of the show.

I also think the fat guy's acting was brilliant, he potrayed his freaky nice guy role really well. The casting was also very good (Other than the lesbian, the 'guy' was a little too girlish). The lines on the old man's face really helped to show how much pain he is carrying.

While watching the show, fear actually hit me. Maybe it's still the honeymoon period, maybe I should stop thinking too much. But I actually imagine for a brief second my relationship crumbling. That thought sent a sinking feeling in me for awhile...

As I watch the father and son trying to work things, I can't help but wonder what will it be like when my parents are much much older. Will we start talking (not stuff like how is the weather today)? Will our relationship grow from the superficial one we have now to something more? I wonder....

Well, if u have some time to spare...do go catch the show. Support the local art scene!? Moreover, the movie is really worth it.

(If all else fails to convince you to watch the show, there is 2 cute girls acting in the show. I must say one of them is pretty busty!)

Great catching up

A sudden initiative from Ganz led to a night out to Balaclava with my JC friends. Guys must be above 25 years old to get in, somehow I don't think they really bother as the bunch of us are underage. Or maybe we just look old.

The place was nice and the crowd was pretty good. If the group was not so big, we would have gotten the comfy looking sofa. My only gripe is the band, the lead just can't seem to bring out the songs. The only songs he manage to wow me were from the Metal/Heavy Rock genre. I shall give the him the benefit of the doubt since I was told he had a sore throat.

Obviously the highlight of the night was catching up with my buddies. The ones that skipped school together, the ones that made my JC life so much more fun. Though I felt we did not catch up much, but just meeting up and chatting a bit was good enough. In no time, the camera whores whipped out their digital camera. Poor me, I don't even own one.

We spend the night crapping, comparing tongues, watching a RA clip courtesy of Kit. I was also pretty tempted to take the Hoegarden pint glass. It is HUGE!

It was really great seeing the peeps again, been some time since we last met. During which, each of us went through ups and downs in our own life. I guess some friendships are just like that, we can meet once every half a year and still not feel like strangers. Cheers to those who made my JC life so much more interesting.

So fast

This semester is going by so fast. It still feels like the holidays just ended. I feel as if I have not learn much, but still feel there is so much to do in school. I really wonder why my perception of time is so screwed this time round. I just hope the next time I blog abt time moving so fast, it will be my exams.

Sigh......

To the ones....

As I read their blogs or talk to them occassionally online, I find out how much pain they are going thru. I wish I can do more and I wish I was there for you. I realise I must have acted nonchalent, I hope you will forgive me.
------------------------------------------------------------

To the one who is nursing a broken heart....
I have known you for quite a long time and you have always been a strong girl. It pains everyone to see that you are going thru such a down. I hope you to hear the cheerful gal once more! Here is something I saw sometime ago which I thought was very meaningful...

Comes the Dawn
by Veronica A. Shoffstall

After a while, you learn the subtle difference
Between holding a hand and chaining a soul,
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning
And company doesn't mean security.
And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts
And presents aren't promises.
And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head up and your eyes open
With the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child.
And you learn to build all your roads
On today, because tomorrow's ground
Is too uncertain for plans, and futures have
A way of falling down in mid-flight.
After a while you learn that even sunshine
Burns if you get too much.
So you plant your own garden and decorate
Your own soul instead of waiting
For someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure...
That you really are strong
And you really do have worth.
And you learn and learn...
With every goodbye you learn

------------------------------------------------------------

To the one who is having so much frustration in her life...
You are someone special and it really saddens me to see you so angry. You are so giving till it becomes a weakness. Learn to give yourself some happiness and enjoyment. I am sure you will get thru this rough patch soon, cheer up!

------------------------------------------------------------

To the one who is having relationship problems...
I have said what I wanted to say. You have heard what others have said. It is now for you to decide. Here is a crude poem for you (you know how I feel abt your situation)...

I wish I can tell you all will be fine.
I wish I can rid the pain that you bind.
But all that is said will go to waste,
if you don't learn to move on in haste.

I know you can't bear to let go,
I know it is taking a toll.
But all the tears that you cry,
will not be appreciated by that guy.

Life is fragile

I went to a wake today. The guy passes away with Lou Gehrig's disease - the very same disease that Morrie got in the bestseller book 'Tuesday with Morrie'. The disease slowly degenerates a person's muscle, but not the nerves. So one day you lose the use of your leg, sometime later your hand. Till the day you die. Sounds so painful...

My condolences to my old friend. I am sure God will always be with you and your family.

If one day I was to be in such position...someone please pull the plug. Just kill me and spare me the pain. I may sound like a coward, but I do not want anyone (will there be even someone) to feel sad for me. It is so painful to just stand there knowing there is nothing you can do, but wait for the time when I take in my last gasp of air.

This post sounds so bleak...but I guess there is always a time when you will think of death.

Wednesday, August 17, 2005

Ahhhh....

Throughout the day I was anticipating for the moment to come as promised. I was very hyped and very excited. Just the thought of the action I will be getting sends chill down my spine.

I kept playing with my tool to get me worked up. I even prepared myself early to get a feel of where all the action will take place. As I waited with trepidation like it was my first time, I run through my mind what I will do later with my playmate.

I was pumping my tool to keep my blood running. I even had a little game in between, I pumped my balls and pushed my weapon. But I held back as I realise I needed to peak at the right moment.....I was not going to push myself over the limit...just a little longer....

A little longer for the fun to begin. As the time draws nearer, I closed my eyes and took a deep breadth. I let out a soft 'Ahhhhh', just to get out some pent up feelings.

"Ans...the fellow not coming to play...."

Alas....my tennis opponent did not turn up for the match. Sigh.....

Suay

I just don't have the luck...

Last December I was roped in to play a Tennis competition and on the first match...my strings broke.

I joined the NTU OPEN and was told my first match was today and my strings snapped yesterday.

DAMMN IT

What to put in the fridge

I finally got a fridge for my hostel. I look at it and wonder what to put it...drinks, snacks, eggs etc. But I need to have something special, something which makes my fridge stand out from the others.....

I decided to stock it up with beer!

Hahaha...I love my hostel room

Lost

These few weeks have gone by in a blizz....
sigh...back to school life....

Wake Me Up When September Ends - Green Day

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
wake me up when september ends

like my fathers come to pass
seven years has gone so fast
wake me up when september ends

here comes the rain again
falling from the stars
drenched in my pain again
becoming who we are

as my memory rests
but never forgets what I lost
wake me up when september ends

summer has come and passed
the innocent can never last
wake me up when september ends

ring out the bells again
like we did when spring began
wake me up when september ends

here comes the rain again
falling from the stars
drenched in my pain again
becoming who we are

as my memory rests
but never forgets what I lost
wake me up when september ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
wake me up when september ends

like my father's come to pass
twenty years has gone so fast
wake me up when september ends
wake me up when september ends
wake me up when september ends

----------------------------------------
Yes....please wake me up when Sept ends....it will be time to buck up and try to pull the horrible grades up.
